The village of Savigny-lès-Beaune
Nestled between Corton Hill and Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune is a charming winegrowing village that perfectly embodies the character of Burgundy. Some of the families who first cultivated vines here can be traced back to the 15th century, and their descendants are still making wine in the village today.
Savigny-lès-Beaune is also home to a wealth of architectural treasures, reflecting the rich heritage of Burgundy and, more broadly, of France.
From Saint-Cassien Church, with its magnificent listed Romanesque bell tower, to the elegant formal French garden of the Chandon de Briailles manor house, the village is full of fascinating sights to discover. As you wander through its streets, keep an eye out for the inscriptions carved into the stone façades of its houses. One of them, reflecting the age-old wisdom of Burgundy’s winemakers, gives five reasons to drink: “the arrival of a guest, present thirst, future thirst,
the quality of the wine, and any other reason you can think of.”

The Château of Savigny-lès-Beaune
Built in 1340 by Jean de Formolais, Marshal of the Duchy of Burgundy, for Duke Eudes IV of Burgundy, the Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune has a fascinating history.
In 1979, Mr Pont, a passionate motor racing enthusiast and racing driver himself, brought together an extraordinary collection here and created several museums within the castle.
The château is renowned for its vast collection of vintage racing cars, including a remarkable selection of Abarth models, as well as its collection of motorcycles, offering visitors a truly unique
experience.
In the château’s extensive grounds, you can wander among an impressive collection of aircraft and helicopters. Admire MiG fighter jets, Dassault aircraft, and even four aircraft formerly used by the Patrouille de France, the French Air Force’s renowned aerobatic team.

The Château is home to the world’s largest collection of fighter jets. Nearly 100 fighter jets brought from around the world are displayed in the château grounds, including four aircraft from the Patrouille de France, 11 MiGs and 17 Dassault aircraft.
ne of the largest motorcycle museums in France, it showcases nearly 250 motorcycles of all nationalities, dating from 1902 to 1960.
Certainly one of the finest and rarest collections of Abarth prototypes in the world. Discover around thirty different models, some of them one-of-a-kind, which Michel Pont, the château’s owner, raced in international hill climbs and on racing circuits.
This museum, which opened in 2019, features two 7-metre scale models of the Ariane 4 and Ariane 5 rockets, two communications satellites, and a range of other models, including the Ariane 4 payload fairing and a Leduc 002 aircraft.
Nearly 8,000 scale models are on display at the Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune.
A collection featuring around twenty fire engines dating from 1905 to 1984.
With around thirty prototype vineyard tractors dating from 1946 to 1956, this museum unique in Burgundy showcases the ingenuity of earlier generations in replacing horses with machinery.

The Hospices de Beaune
A symbol of Burgundy, the Hospices de Beaune are renowned for their distinctive polychrome glazed-tile roofs and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The story of the Hospices Civils de Beaune began in 1443 when Nicolas Rolin and Guigone de Salins founded a hospital:
the Hôtel-Dieu.
Their charitable vision and generous patronage laid the foundations for a remarkable tradition, allowing the Hospices de Beaune to endure through the centuries while preserving their exceptional heritage.
